IN THE KNOW ON...
FUN EVENTS TO ATTEND
Be in the know about fun events happening around the city! Here are a few that I have attended over the years, and suggest that you check out yourself!
CIRCLE LINE SIGHTSEEING CRUISE
Up-close perspective of Manhattan skyline, Statue of Liberty and Brooklyn Bridge with sea breezes. With over 70 years operating in the NYC harbor and hosting 60 million passengers, this is definitely a fun thing to add to your list!
AMATEUR NIGHT AT THE APOLLO
The Apollo Theater at 253 West 125th Street between Adam Clayton Powell Jr. Boulevard and Frederick Douglass Boulevard in Harlem, is one of New York’s most popular live entertainment experiences. The classic competition is known for its notoriously “tough” audience, gleefully deciding who will “be good or be gone” to win the grand prize. Who will be the next Ella Fitzgerald, James Brown or Michael Jackson? At Amateur Night, you decide.
NYRR NEW YORK MINI 10K WALK
We ran with over 8,000 women and all around us we could see the purple. Team Sammy runs the NYC mini 10 K race to help raise awareness and funds for treatment of blood cancers. We are fundraising for Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, and you can donate too with the link below. Such a fun time for such a good cause!
CENTRAL PARK CONCERTS & MUSIC
Central Park hosts concerts during the spring, summer and fall, ranging from small classical quartets at the Naumburg Bandshell to large rock concerts on the Great Lawn.
THE MARCH - NYC PRIDE
The March is a celebration of our lives and our community. There is a unique marching contingents, representing a vast array of nonprofits, community organizations, corporate partners, small businesses, political candidates and activists! With over 80 floats making the trek down Fifth Avenue, this year’s March was one of the largest and most exciting in history. Also, 2017 Pride Parade was the first year to be broadcast live on ABC!
NEW YORK CITY BALLET | GEORGE BALANCHINE'S THE NUTCRACKER
Celebrate the joy and wonder of the holidays with George Balanchine’s The Nutcracker® as Tschaikovsky’s iconic score whisks you away on a heartwarming adventure through the eyes of the pint-sized heroine Marie on her journey to a fantastical land made entirely of candy.
OR GET OUTSIDE OF THE CITY...
WHITE WATER RAFTING
Spend the day outside of the city white water rafting! I recently went with friends and it was a great time! You should try it out too! All the information you need is linked below.
Take a short trip upstate for some outdoor fun playing paintball! The games include all your equipment (marker, goggles/facemask, camo suit, and unlimited CO2 air) plus field judges. So much fun!
